A Wakeup Call for Internet Monitoring Systems: The Case for Distributed Triggers
نویسندگان
چکیده
There have been a number of recent proposals for distributed monitoring infrastructures. We argue that a vital missing component from these proposals is a distributed triggering mechanism, by which nodes in the system can proactively work together to maintain invariants and constraints over the system-wide behavior. Without such a triggering component, existing proposals are doomed to poor performance, high detection latency, or both. A key research challenge in building such a triggering mechanism lies in devising solutions whereby individual nodes can independently detect (and react to) violations of constraints that are defined in terms of the aggregate behavior of nodes in the system. We discuss our early efforts in designing such a triggering system and the research challenges that lie ahead.

Direct Marketing Based on Fuzzy Clustering of Customers (Case Study: on one Mobile Company)
Objective There is a general tendency toward direct marketing these days. Therefore, instead of designing advertisement and marketing strategies for all the customers in the market, it is recommended to classify the customers based on clustering techniques and then design specific strategies accordingly. This will reduce marketing and advertisement expenses, increase sale department efficientl...
متن کاملLong-term monitoring of apparent latency in PREEMPT RT Linux real-time systems
The real-time wakeup latency tracer (wakeup rt) in conjunction with the wakeup latency histogram (CONFIG WAKEUP LATENCY HIST) is part of the Linux kernel trace subsystem. It monitors processes that have the highest priority of the system throughout their entire wakeup processing and do not share this priority with any other concurrently running or scheduled process. Thus, this tracer should be ...
متن کاملTeaching approaches to Computer Assisted Language Learning
Computers have been used for language teaching ever since the 1960's.Learning a second language is a challenging endeavor, and, for decades now, proponents of computer assisted language learning (CALL) have declared that help is on the horison. We investigate the suitability of deploying speech technology in computer based systems that can be used to teach foreign language skills. In this case,...

Clearly a wakeup call for the healthcare industry, the IOM report of 2000 To Err Is Human now appears to have been a sentinel event, at least in the United States (Institute of Medicine 1999). Given that the practice of medicine in the United States is, in many ways, very similar to that in Canada--for example, our physician trainees are educated and evaluated using similar models--it is unfort...
متن کاملDesigning an Expert System for Internet Connection Problems Troubleshooting for wired network users
Man, is living in an era that the knowledge is estimated to be doubled in a relatively short time. The fast rate of technology's growth in the "Century of information", is caused by fast growth of communication technologies like the internet which has become one of the best tools for a quick, cheap, effective and vastly supported communication. For an efficient and effective usage of tools and ...
